Tucked nicely under some stately oak trees at 638 W. 20th Street, is the Heights newest must-stop shopping for the pet owner. Animal lover Teresa Bues has been involved in the rescue of dogs and cats for over 10 years and decided to turn her passion into a business. After many years of perfecting the idea and searching for healthy alternatives for our pets, Heights Urban Dog finally opened the doors in June. Our staff:

Assistant Manager - Lady
Lady was one of the lucky rescues from the streets of Houston back in May of 1999. After many trips to her now favorite veterinarian, she came to live in our house full time. Since she had such a laid back temperament, her mom was able to get her involved as a therapy dog. In 2002 she became affiliated with a great organization in Houston called, Caring Critters (www.caringcritters.org). Since then she has visited many facilities such as Texas Children's Hospital, TIRR (Texas Institute for Rehabilitation) and MD Anderson Cancer Hospital. read more |

Owner/Manager - Teresa
Teresa comes from a family business background since the age of 7 and spent the last 16 years pursuing her other passion - travel. For 11 of the past 16 years she owned and operated her own travel agency located on 19th Street in the Heights. During those years she and her husband Matt were fortunate to be able to travel to many places like Alaska, Hawaii and Europe, to name a few . After 9/11 and many other changes that have transpired in the travel industry over the years, it was time to focus on a new passion. read more |
